Hidden qualities

by Adam Yeadon

When you use an Ambrose Fox solution, you are interacting with what we call the 'front end'. This is the interface between you and the solution. Sitting behind the front end, yes you've guessed it, is the 'back end'. This is the part of the solution that handles data and generally responds to your input.

Driving both the front and back ends is the 'code'. Hundreds of thousands of lines of code, carefully written, structured and documented by our coding wizards.

Whilst the functionality and ease of use of our solutions is vitally important, the quality of the coding and the documentation ensures long-term effectiveness when updating or improving a solution.

Here are some things that our coding wizards consider when developing solutions:

  1. Databases are logically structured and fully documented so we know exactly what each part does and why
  2. Overall system architecture is robust, flexible and scalable so our solutions can grow and adapt in the future
  3. Code is cleanly written and conforms to our coding standards so any member of the development team can work with it
  4. Technical documentation is maintained so future requirements can be quickly evaluated and implemented

As a user of an Ambrose Fox solution, you'll rarely ever see the code or the supporting documentation behind it, but these hidden qualities combine to ensure that future developments and additions can be handled effectively without compromising the overall solution.
